Dipl.-Ing. Bernd Rehn

Bernd is the founder and president of aero-contact, an aviation related engineering service bureau. Bernd is a graduated engineer of Airframe and Power plant and also a graduated engineer for territorial energy systems. He has been an aviation engineer for over twenty-five years and served nearly 20 years in the East German Air Force. During his service he was the Director of Maintenance for all L-39 aircraft in the East German Air Force. This time of maintenance jobs accumulated over 96,000 flight hours. His responsibilities included inspection, maintenance, overhaul, and acquisition of L-39 aircraft and parts. His contacts include many companies throughout Eastern Europe and he has a direct relationship with the Aero Vodochody factory and with all the other Czech and Slovak aviation manufacturers and overhaul plants.
After the unification of Germany he became the commander of the Fighter Training Squadron FAG-25 in the German airforce.

Bernd holds several licenses, including a full AERO Vodochody L-39 and AI-25TL engine license. He is also licensed to adjust engines. Bernd is always looking for a good business

Dr.-Ing. Heinz-Peter Jährig

Dr. Jährig served from 1962 to 1991 in both German air forces, rising to a rank of a Colonel of the Bundeswehr. He was one of the former teachers of Bernd Rehn at the German Airforce Academy. Heinz-Peter Jährig graduated to a Doctor-Engineer at the Moscow "N.E.Shukowsky" Academy. He is a specialist for aircraft engine design and the author of several aviation engine related books. Since 1995 he worked together with Bernd Rehn on several demilitarisation and modification programs of the Mi-14 Fire fighting helicopters. His excellent personality and his language skills were the reason for Raab-Karcher, one of the biggest German bulding material trust, to send him as a representative for 2 years to Moscow. Beside his engineering skills he has a lot of marketing experience in dealing with eastern Governments and companies.

Dr. Jährig joined the team of aero - contact this year again. He is now responsible for parts support, contracting work and market research.

Detlev Doberschuetz

Detlev served in the East German Air Force from 1974 to 1990, rising to the rank of a Major. As a graduated engineer he was the leader of the ejection seat service group of the L-39 Fighter Training Squadron FAG-25, located in Bautzen.
He was responsible for the maintenance on the L-39 egress system. Mainly by his experience on the ejection seat and his hobby ( sky diving and glider pilot ) he became the Instructor of parachute and egress system for L-39 pilots. Hundred of pilots and students went through his parachute and ejection seat instruction courses.

Later on, Detlev flew Antonov airplanes in Africa and Mi-14 fire fighter helicopters. He is working now for the German Civil Aviation Authority (LBA ) as a member of the task force, inspecting foreign airplanes arriving Germanys International Airports. ( Yes, also United and Northwest -Airlines ! )

Detlev is working as a free lancer for aero-contact, whenever he can get some days off.
He holds a lot of licenses for ejection seat maintenance, parachute packing, skydiving instructor , flight engineer ....

Juergen "Paule" Vogt

, is "Mr. Engine " of the former Eastern Germany Airforce
More than 20 years working on MiG-21 engines , only interrupted for a few but very important years of ejection seat work on MiG-21's, he knows all the details. His Airforce carreer started in the middle of the 60ies in Rothenburg / Saxony, where Paule maintained MiG-21U training airplanes. With the unification of both German states, Paule joined the Luftwaffe and was very soon the engine expert on the RD-33 engine of the Mig-29
After he retired in 1999, the Airforce felt very soon the lack of man power and experts.
So now what ? Right , they called Paule back in service to keep the Mig-29 flying....
He is simple indispensable.
Now we have got him and the A.F. needs to share Paule with us.... I like that.

Paule Vogt is also the Author of the MiG-21U book which tells the story about the MiG-21 U planes in the airforce. This book is a best seller. Order it here !

Jens Triebel

Jens served in the East German Air Force from 1974 to 1990 rising to the rank of a Major. For three years during his service he taught L-39 airframe and power plant maintenance at the East German Air Force Academy. As a graduated engineer he was the leader of engineering services for the Flight Test Department of the L-39 Fighter Training Squadron FAG-25, located in Bautzen.
He was responsible for establishing special training courses for L-39 air force mechanics and has special expertise in the area of engine repairs and modifications.
When aero-contact's the L-39 business growths up , Bernd was seeking for the best engineers to complete his team. Jens got a call from his former commander....and joined aero-contact in April, 2000. Jens holds a AERO Vodochody L-39 and AI-25 TL license. His air force license includes engine adjustment as well.
At aero-contact Jens is responsible for the scheduled maintenance and leads the US operation.

Juergen "Jimmy" Weiss is the Electrician in our team

He spent his A.F. time in Marxwalde / Neuhardenberg near Berlin. His experience covers all MiG 21 series and modifications. Trouble shooting is one of his favored things. That's exactly what we need some times when airplanes are assembled in USA and are a "little bit modified "too. Auto-pilots or other nice, but complicated things are his goal....
Finally he spent the last 10 years in Laage on the MiG-29. Besides his practical work on the planes, he also was a teacher for young airforce mechanics for electric /electronic equipment. We are glad to have him in our team.

Ralph Schenk

Ralph joined the aero-contact team on April 1st 2001(it isn't a joke). After his work in the construction industry he was looking for new job opportunities. In the future he will be responsible for at least one of the large company spare parts stocks and he also will lead several company investments.
He already started his "ground course " in the aviation business. His teacher for the basic course on the L-39 at this time is Jens (Who else?).
Bernd Fischer will do the same with Ralph for the LET - 410.
Irene Rehn

Married with Bernd, means a life of 25 years around aircraft. Needless to say that such a company like aero - contact needs a working system in the background. Irene leads a 1600 m2 store at the Rothenburg Airport with airplane and helicopter spare parts, to make sure that aero - contact's operation and aero - contact's customers are never short on parts.
Whether a single UPS shipment with LET 410 parts to Florida or 14 trucks with helicopter spare parts to Lithuania-- not a problem !
Irene is also responsible to provide the operation of our company with all necessary documents, manuals and maintenance records.
And just in case, Bernd is in Chuguev, Ukraine to look for L-39 , she prepares together with Bernd Fischer a company owned LET 410 for a ferry flight to USA.

Kerstin Rehn

As a student of business economics she learns the theoretical side of her work at aero-contact.
In the practical part she does translations and correspondence but light maintenance on airplanes as well

Uwe Seiffert

is also an Engine / Airframe expert in our team.

He worked during his A.F time in Peenemünde on MiG-21’s and MiG-23’s
With the unification of Germany, his experience was asked by the German Luftwaffe.....
and no wonder, the Air Force head hunter invited him, like our other guys, to serve 10 years more to keep the MiG-29 flying. We are glad to have Uwe in our team.

Klaus "Lore" Lorenz is the Airframe expert in our team

He worked during his A.F time in Kamenz as technical instructor of the Eastern Germany Airforce Academy. He trained the students mainly in practical work , maintenance , rapiers and other " hardware " related things on the MiG-21 . In his free time he is a glider pilot.
With the unification of Germany, his experience was asked by the Luftwaffe.....
and no wonder, the head hunter invited him to spend 10 more years on the MiG-29. With Lore kept the planes flying with limited equipment and tools. After he flew the F-100 in the back seat during his service in the Airforce, he got now the impression to fly in a P-51 Mustang over the Lake Tahoe in Nevada.

Bernd Fischer

Bernd served during his East German Air Force career as a staff sergeant from 1978-1981 on the L-39 flight line at Bautzen, Germany. From 1981-1982 he worked at the aircraft overhaul plant named "Flugzeugwerft Dresden" as a mechanic repairing aircraft damaged in accidents. He returned to the air
force in 1982 to serve under Bernd Rehn as an L-39 airframe specialist. He performed heavy maintenance repairs on L-39 aircraft that had been damaged in accidents. He has developed an expertise in airframe maintenance and overhaul of L-39 parts and equipment. In addition to his L-39 experience he has worked on the LET-410 aircraft and Mi-8 and Mi-14 helicopters. Bernd holds several licenses , including for Aero Vodochody L-39 and AI-25TL, VS 1-BRI ejection seat , for LET 410 and Walter engines and last but not least for Mi-8 and MI-14 Helicopters. Bernd got also a call from his former boss...and joined the
aero-contact team in July 2000.
